An Overview of our Learning

We jumped for joy when we heard that our Year Two students could come back to school! We cannot wait to see everyone again in-person, and hear about the experiences we have had whilst learning from home, the good, the bad, and the in-between.

As a dedicated team of teachers, we are aware that the return to school may create mixed feelings in our students, and in their families. It's likely that there might even be some sleepless nights in the lead-up to Tuesday 26th May; both for adults and children.

This is all okay, as we are in this together.

Throughout Term One, we established extremely positive classroom 'norms' and in the coming weeks we will focus our energies on res-establishing these. We will also utilise our school's existing social-emotional well-being model (Berry Street and SWPBL) to help our students adjust to the restrictions that they might feel from being back in the classroom. Whilst we can't take a break to walk the dog, or jump on the trampoline, we can  apply our established mindfulness strategies when taking regular brain-breaks. Whilst learning is important, it is also important to allow all of our students the opportunity to readjust to on-site learning.

On Monday 25th May we will be posting a video social story via Compass, which we would like you to view with your child. The video will give them a tour of the classroom, and show them what to expect when they return to school.

In the meantime, please refer to the attached social-story which can be used to help your child prepare for their return to school. This resource was shared during a recent professional learning session which we attended with many schools across Victoria.
