An Overview of our Learning

We are so excited to return to school... and even have a little bit of nervous energy ready to burst! But that is completely okay, because we realised that our Foundation students have only been physically at school for less than 40 days in 2020.

Therefore, when our students return to school on Tuesday 26th May, we will be putting an effort into 'starting over' with classroom routines, transitions, and getting to know each other again.

On Monday 25th May we will be posting a video social story via Compass, which we would like you to view with your child. The video will give them a tour of the classroom, and show them what to expect when they return to school.

One of the most important ways that we can help our Foundation students to settle back into school is to explain why everyone is talking about washing, washing, washing and even more washing of our hands.

The video below was posted via Google Classrooms, and is an engaging way to start a discussion about how hand washing helps to stop the spread of all types of germs.

What does your child need to bring to school when they return?

Given that your child has recently spent so much time at home, they may like to bring a favourite teddy, toy, family photo, favourite story book, or similar to school with them over the first few days.

It is also important to remember that your child will need to bring the following items to school:

  • lunchbox with food (snacks and lunch)
  • drink bottle (refillable- no glass)
  • school jacket/ jumper for outdoor play
  • a spare pair of socks in case of wet feet (these may remain in your child's bag)
