Specialist Program
Outdoor Education- Donna Thomas
During Term 2 students in Outdoor Education spent the first six weeks completing a variety of activities at home. These activities included participating in a scavenger hunt, sock golf, building a hut and making a treasure map.
Once onsite learning resumed students were able to participate in a variety of sporting activities both inside the gym and outside on the oval, on the basketball courts and on the new Gaga court.
Drivers Education- Isobel Baynes
Throughout remote learning, students in Drivers Education continued to practise their Learners Test and Hazard Perception Tests online, with great results. One student even succeeded in attaining their Learners Permit during lockdown, which is a fantastic achievement!
In Term Two, students have covered content including BAC, facts and opinions around road traffic accidents, action and consequences for casualty crashes and completed online Drivesmart Modules for TAC. They have practiced identifying road hazards through different road user perspectives using empathy and different scenarios and environments.
Students developed skills and confidence to make sense of numeracy in driving, exploring fundamental measurement and number skills that are part of learning to drive and being able to drive safely eg parking signs, calculations for speed and metric measurements like distance or volume.
Students have worked hard over the Semester to understand the road laws, road hazards and the steps in getting a Probationary Driver’s Licence.

Music- Justin Hall
Students in music elective groups have used this shortened term to continue to work as a band and rehearse songs. All classes have played extremely well with great instrumental skills being shown, even after the long break.
P.E - Hayley Northridge
Once onsite learning resumed the P.E. program worked hard each week on basic skills and moved into circuits and minor games where the students could use their skills they had learnt. The focus for the term was cricket, basketball and soccer.
Secondary 11/12 have been working hard on their basketball and cricket skills. Each week the students have worked on using their skills and ability in a game situation while working on their team work.
Digital Technology- Jess Mitchell
In Term 2 of the ‘Print it 3D’unit, 11/12 students designed and printed their own 6-sided dice and a pencil holder from scratch using the technical software, TinkerCad. They had to navigate the fiddly controls of the software to transform the size of shapes, create hollow spaces and add letters and numbers using the ‘workplane’ tool. When designing their pencil holders, students used measurements from real LEGO models to make sure their design would hold pencils and pens. Some students chose to decorate their pencil holders using the 3D printer pens after they were printed. I’m so proud of the 11/12s for what they achieved in this unit, they managed to learn challenging software and created amazing designs – well done!
Science - Chloe Venezia
This term Secondary 11/12 Science Elective Groups have taken part in remote learning and face to face learning. This meant the Secondary 11/12 students got the opportunity to partake in some amazing Chemistry and Physics experiments at home including Volcano Lava, Paper Airplanes, Bridge Building, Sink or Float, liquids and Spinning Tops. On the return to Face to Face Teaching and Learning students continued on with their STEM program. Working in teams they were able to design, build and test spaghetti bridges. They were also able to build and test a LEGO tower to see if it would with stand an earthquake and learn about forces in constructing Marble Mazes.
Food Technology- Jane Stacey
During remote and flexible learning, I received many photos of all the food students had prepared at home with their families. So many students produced meals that were amazing and I am very proud of how they took on the challenge of some of the recipes. Popular recipes included homemade pizzas, truffles and Mother’s Day biscuits. For the remainder of the term we did individual cooking to prepare mini quiches, sausage rolls, souvlakis, kebabs and homemade hamburgers.
