Pastoral Care
It is hard to imagine we have now navigated 6 weeks of remote learning. On Monday, the majority of our Year 11s and 12s will return and I can’t wait to see them all again. Despite some initial apprehension, our senior students have navigated this new way of learning with great success. They have adjusted and simply got on with it, teaching us a few tricks along the way. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of our students. I know for many families; it will be a sad day watching your son or daughter return to school after finally finding some routine at home. The success of our Remote Learning Program has been a three-way partnership between parents, teachers and students and we are incredibly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful school community. The true champions, however, have been our students. In the blink of an eye their whole worlds were turned upside down as their school routine, contact with friends and their sport all disappeared. Still, at the end of each of their remote lessons many stayed on to thank their teachers, they have worked through the tough days and they have made sure they have remained connected with each other.
I came across this piece on Instagram and it reminded me just how amazing they have all been.
Shout out to the KIDS
Everyone is applauding everyone but our children. These little heroes have stayed indoors more than they’ve ever known in their lives. Their whole worlds have literally turned upside down. All these rules they’ve never known. A life they couldn’t have imagined. All the things they love like sports, being with friends, going to school or just being kids have all been taken away from them. Adults talking about others becoming unwell, news reporting death after death. Our poor children’s minds must be racing. Every day they get up and carry on despite all that’s going on. So here is to our little heroes: today, tomorrow forever.
