Week 10, Term 2

The artist Paul Klee has provided us with much inspiration over the last term. In particular, his well recognised artwork, Castle and Sun. We have continued to explore his use of colour and geometric shapes to create arrays of colourful Winter Patchwork Quilts. Next week we will be practising our scissor skills, chopping up the 'quilts' to create collages. 

Grade 2's have practised scissor skills, observing symmetry and colour mixing this week. Combining all of these skills will help us to create some spectacular Heart Art.....stay tuned.

Grade 3 and 4 - Selfies

Keep those Selfies coming in Grade 3 and 4! I am impressed with the skill of these photographers as a good selfie is hard to take - ask any non-digital native!  Particular consideration needs to be given to focus, framing, expression and background. I think these images are very telling of their creator. What do you think?

Grade 5 and 6 - The Longest Line 

The Longest Line continues to challenge us in Grade 5 and 6. It's not an easy task to stick rigidly to the criteria - not to mention the strain on our hands as we exercise our wrists and finger strength again!

If you would like to attempt the challenge at home, here is the criteria below. Add a challenge - perhaps a time constraint or use a particular colour or material. Perhaps you could try a fineliner instead of a thick marker? Challenge your parents. Level up or down for added skill development.

Criteria - one continuous line without taking texta off the page, start and end point is the same and undetectable, no crossing or looping of the line, line needs to demonstrate all different types – zig zag, wiggly, jumpy, rounded, line has to be close together, the entire page needed to be covered by the line.
