Staffing News
As is the case each and every year, when the school year ends we say thank you and farewell to staff members who are finishing up their time with us here at Sacred Heart Kew. This year is no different, with some of our current staff moving on to other school settings and opportunitites in 2023. We acknowledge and thank the following people:
Anna Walpole
Anna Walpole has been appointed as a full time classroom teacher at St Damian’s Primary School, Bundoora for 2023.
Anna has taught at Sacred Heart Kew for 15 years, since arriving in 2008. On behalf of past and present leadership, I sincerely thank Anna for all her contributions to the life of our school and community throughout during this period. Anna has positively impacted the lives of many children and families over this time, with her energetic and engaging teaching style. We look forward to acknowledging and celebrating Anna's contributions to our school in a few weeks time.
Tony Hollamby
Tony Hollamby has been appointed as a part time classroom teacher (2 days) at Our Lady’s Primary School Wattle Park for 2023.
Tony has taught at Sacred Heart Kew for 11 years and held various roles during this time, including, Classroom teacher, Religious Education Leader, Senior Team Leader, Deputy Principal and Acting Principal, stepping into this role whilst a search for a Principal took place in 2018-2019. More recently, Tony has taught part time in the Senior year levels and is currently on some well deserved long service leave this term.
Tony has been a professional and much valued and respected teacher and staff member in our school and the wider community throughout this time. He has imparted his love of Mathematics and Science upon many children over the years. On behalf of past and present leadership I thank Tony for all his work, contributions and support to and of our school during his time here at Sacred Heart Kew. We look forward to acknowledging and celebrating Tony's contributions to our school later this year.
Jenny Stewart
Jenny has decided to focus on new challenges and pursuits in her life next year and won't be returning to Sacred Heart Kew as a classroom teacher in 2023. However, Jenny will still come in from time to time as an emergency teacher throughout the year.
Jenny has worked at Sacred Heart Kew for 4 years. Jenny has taught both as a full and part time classroom teacher capacity across Year 2 and Year 4 levels during this time. We thank Jenny for all her contributions and support of our children and look forward to having her still pop in from time to time as an emergency teacher. We will also acknowledge and celebrate Jenny's contributions to our school later this year.
Meg Savell
Meg Savell has been appointed as a classroom teacher at Livingstone Primary School for 2023.
Meg began her journey with us as replacement Music and Performing Arts teacher in Term Four 2020 and came on board as Year Three teacher last year. I thank Meg for all her energy, work and contributions to our school and children across these roles in her time with us at Sacred Heart Kew. We will acknowledge and celebrate Meg's contributions towards the end of the school year.
Emily Kypriotis
Emily has decided that she won't be returning to Sacred Heart Kew in 2023. Emily is looking at doing emergency teacher work and travelling overseas next year.
We thank Emily for teaching and nurturing the children in 2EK as a graduate classroom teacher this year and wish her well in the future. We will acknowledge and celebrate Emily's contributions towards the end of the school year.
Hannah Burridge
Hannah has been appointed as a full time Drama and English teacher at Richmond High School for 2023. Hannah has been working at Richmond High School as an emergency teacher this year.
We thank Hannah for all her work at Sacred Heart Kew this year as Performing Arts Teacher and wish her well for the future. We will acknowledge and celebrate Hannah's contributions towards the end of the school year.
2023 Staffing
Please know that we do ‘take our time’ to make sure that we successfully match our particular school and staff context to the most 'suited' candidate for each role every year. All staff who will be employed for next year will complement our existing staff and school community needs.
We will communicate further updates and new appointments in due course. We anticipate that we will be able to share our finalised 2023 Staffing list with everyone on Monday 12 December.
Advent Program
Our Advent Program will continue in the MPR next week. The paraliturgies commence at 8.50am and all families are invited to attend. See below for the schedule for the remainder of the term.

Gardening Club
Our final gardening club saw our wonderful students create the new succulent garden.
Well done to all those students who came along every week and enthusiastically planted seedlings, seeds and fruit trees, as well as the necessary, but not particularly glamorous weeding. Miss Olney and Mrs Mulhall look forward to working with you again next year.
Year Six Graduation
On Thursday 15 December, we will celebrate our graduating class of 2022 at the evening Graduation Ceremony. The evening will commence at 6.30pm in the School Hall for staff, students and their parents/guardians.
A reminder of the following:
- Families leaving Sacred Heart at the end of 2022 will be farewelled by the community on Thursday 15 December at the conclusion of the 9.15am Mass in the Church.
- The Year 6 End of Year Assembly will be on Friday 16 December at 11.15am in the MPR.
2023 Prep Transition
On Wednesday we held our final Prep Transition session for our newest members of the school community. Our 2023 Prep children met both their classroom teacher and buddy for next year. There were lots of smiles and laughter! Our 2023 Prep parents enjoyed Morning Tea together and also the Prep Information Night. Thanks to our current Prep Parents for all their support and organisation of these special events. It was a BIG day! We cannot wait for our new Preps to begin with us next year. It will be here soon enough.
Swimming Program
As previously mentioned, next Monday 5 December all children will participate in our annual swimming program at MLC.
If you haven't already done so, please complete the 'swimming capabilities' online form that MLC requested.

Children are to wear their sports uniform each day to school (and can wear their bathers underneath). They will need to bring a separate bag to school with them each day.

Goggles
Bathers (or change of underwear if wearing bathers to school under their uniform).
Please ensure all items are clearly labelled along with their sports uniform worn on the day.
Your child’s swimming classes will be held each day from:
Session 1 | 9.10am-9.55am | Prep MW and Prep CB |
Session 2 | 10.00am-10.45am | Grade 1HC and 1EE |
Session 3 | 10.50am-11.35am | All Grade 2 & Grade 5 |
Session 4 | 11.40am-12.25pm | Grade 3MS and 3GR |
Session 5 | 1.10pm-1.55pm | Grade 4TH and 4EO |
Session 6 | 2.00pm-2.45pm | Grade 6JM and 6AP |
Each day, all children will walk to and from the venue with their classroom teacher. '
** Note ** Classes depart school and walk to MLC prior to start of lesson and have changing time available. Students will be in the water for 45 minutes and change after.
