3MS Zoo Snooze

Zoo Snooze (recount by Heidi N 3MS)

Two days ago I went on a Zoo Snooze with my class at the Melbourne Zoo. At 4.30pm we got onto the bus for my school camp to see the animals. When school finished, I stayed behind and got changed for the Zoo Snooze. When everyone left, I got a Chromebook to play on. At 4.30pm everyone had come back so we got on the bus to go to the Zoo Snooze. I was ecstatic from excitement! When we arrived I dragged/waddled with my bags to the gate. When we made it to the camping area I unpacked my bag and made a circle. We met Mikey and Moz, they were our Zoo Snooze guides. In the circle, we said our names and an animal we wanted to save. I said I wanted to save elephants, tigers and snow leopards. After that, we went to the light up animals and I chose the Helmeted Honeyeater group. When everyone had a group, Miss Savell told us our tent groups. I was with Frankie, Charlotte O and Eirini. We each unpacked our bags and set up our tents. For lunch I had a cheese sandwich, an apple juice and a cookie. When that was done we ate dinner. I had a slice of margarita pizza, three serves of macaroni and a lemon sorbet icy pole. After dinner we put on aeroguard and went on the night walk. On the night walk we saw lions, peccaries, snow leopards and Tasmanian devils. Then we went to bed and put our pyjamas on. In the morning we got dressed and had breakfast. For breakfast I had a slice of toast and a ham and cheese toastie. In the morning, we saw the elephants, otters, gorillas, tamarins, squirrel monkeys, the gold and blue macaw, lemurs and giant tortoises. After seeing the animals, we packed up and got onto the bus. When we arrived at school, it was time to go home. I loved the Zoo Snooze.

Prep Breakfast

Yesterday, our Preps enjoyed their pancake and fruit breakfast at school, in their pyjamas, as part of the Camp Program. The students were greeted by Miss Bilney and Miss Wirth (also in their pyjamas) in their brightly coloured classrooms, decorated with Christmas decorations. There was also laughter in the air as they watched 'A Very Bookworm Christmas.' A huge thank you to Chelsea Bilney, Megan Wirth and Alison Toomey for planning and preparing the morning. A big thank you to all the staff who helped set up the classrooms for the children.

Author Visit

On Tuesday 29 November, the Year 3/4 students listened to a presentation by local authors, Belinda Lui and her daughter Zoe. They presented their first published book series, Rapunzel's Sister. Rapunzel's Heir and Rapunzel's Mother. Belinda and Zoe shared their story with the children, referring to the Writing process and Narrative genre. They discussed how they use music to help develop their storytelling skills.
