During the next fortnight, students will be undertaking learning in following areas:
| Reading | Week 2 and 3 - We will be exploring a range of texts by the well-known author Julia Donaldson. Students will participate in a range of reading activities such as using the 'Five Finger Retell' strategy to record details to retell a story. |
| Writing | Week 2 and 3 - Students will be participating in whole class learning experiences and writing a personal recount describing what they did. |
| Maths | Week 2 and 3 - Students will be investigating length and area through a range of hands-on activities to compare objects and will be encouraged to use the appropriate mathematical vocabulary. |
| Inquiry | Week 2 and 3 - We will begin exploring the topic 'What does it mean to be healthy?' Students will participate in activities such as creating a healthy lunchbox. |
| SEL | Week 2 and 3 - Students will be developing strategies to recognise, describe and regulate their emotions so that they can remain in the 'Green Zone' for optimal learning. |
News and Reminders:
- Please remember that your child needs a sun smart hat to be able to play outside.
- Reader satchels need to be brought to school.
- All items from the booklist including an art folio, headphones and a handwriting book.
Take home readers:
We have purchased hundreds of NEW decodable, take home books to support our work on increasing phonemic awareness and phonics in the junior years through Little Learners Love Literacy. These books are currently being covered and catalogued. As such, take home readers are still a couple of weeks away from starting. Stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, we encourage you to read to your child and enable opportunities for them to read for enjoyment.
