Buses replace trains, timetable changes

Tuesday 6 December to mid 2023

Buses replace trains on the Frankston and Stony Point lines between:

  • Caulfield and Moorabbin from 8.30pm Tuesday 6 December to 8.30pm Friday 9 December
  • Caulfield to Mordialloc from 8.30pm Friday 9 December to 1.15am Saturday 10 December
  • South Yarra to Mordialloc from 1.15am Saturday 10 December to last service Sunday 11 December
  • Frankston to Stony Point from 8.30pm Tuesday 6 December to last service Sunday 11 December

Please note buses also replace trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines during this period.

As this disruption is scheduled during the school term, it is important for the school community to be aware that there will be delays to their journey and they should plan ahead during this period.  If you are planning a school excursion using the Frankston Line during this time, we recommend you contact Public Transport Victoria on 1800 800 007 to seek advice and register your journey. 

 

In addition, we recommend you include this information along with the attached brochure in communications to students, parents and staff during any upcoming holiday period.

Temporary changes to Frankston Line express services

Express trains along the Frankston Line will be replaced with trains stopping all stations from Monday 12 December to mid-2023.

 

There will up to a 10-minute increase in journey times to these services.

 

Platform closures

From Monday 12 December to mid-2023 Platform 1 will be closed at Glenhuntly, Ormond, McKinnon, Bentleigh, Patterson and Moorabbin stations.

During this time, trains between Glenhuntly and Moorabbin will not stop at Platform 1. City bound trains will depart from Platform 2, while Frankston bound trains will use Platform 3.

How will this affect you?

There will be additional travel time added to most people’s journey. 

 

During the disruption, a range of buses will operate to help make your journey as direct as possible. Please see attached brochure for further information.   

 

A number of car park and on-street parking changes will also be in place at stations on the Frankston Line to allow for the safe operation of train replacement buses and construction works.
