It is with great pleasure that I announce that Year 10 student Alex Vandermeer is the recipient of the prestigious Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program.  Alex will join a select group of students to receive support and special access to the resources of the University of Melbourne.

Alex was selected into this program based on her outstanding academic performance and leadership skills.

The Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program is a three-year academic enrichment program designed to assist high-achieving students in realising their full potential through creating a network and community of students.  These students will have the opportunity to participate in an extensive program of events and activities including lectures by leading researchers and seminars with world class teachers

The program was established in 2007 and is named in honour of eminent scholar, leading educationalist and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Melbourne, Professor Kwong Lee Dow.   I am sure this will be an invaluable journey of learning for Alex.

The whole school community is so proud of the achievements of our Class of 2022 and  they have our sincere best wishes for the future.

THANK YOU AND BEST WISHES FOR THE FESTIVE SEASON

As 2022 draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Senior School teachers for their passion, dedication, enthusiasm and sheer hard work in providing each student with every opportunity to achieve their goals.  They are always giving of their time and assistance, and I thank them for their outstanding commitment and the excellent teaching and learning they have provided for the students.  It is a privilege to work with such dedicated and conscientious teachers.

My sincere appreciation and thanks must go to Mr Andrew Batchelor.  Frankston High School is an outstanding school, a school where there is a culture of academic excellence, where every student is given every opportunity to maximise their learning outcomes.  There is a dynamic learning environment with shared goals, a sense of responsibility for making a difference and a culture of continuous improvement.  This would not be possible without Mr Batchelor's support, encouragement and leadership.

I would also like to thank the Senior School Leadership Team for their assistance and the invaluable work they do in supporting our students – Ms Carla Caminiti (Year 12 Coordinator), Mrs Ellen D’Ambra (Year 11 Coordinator), Mrs Sharon Bourne (Careers and VCAL Coordinator),   Ms Kelly Mitchell  (Assistant Year 12 Coordinator), Mr Paul Don (Assistant Year 11 Coordinator), Mrs Sharon Koning and Ms Kelly Lin (International Student Coordinators).  The drive and leadership of these people is what makes the Senior Campus the school that it is and I thank them most sincerely for their tireless energy in ensuring all students achieve their best.

In addition, I would like to thank and acknowledge the work of our Educational Support staff – Mrs Tina Thomas (Senior School Office Manager) and Mrs Carolyn McIver (Senior Coordination Administrative Assistant and VET Coordinator).

Finally, I would like to thank the parents/carers and the wider Frankston High School Community for your support throughout the years.  As many of you would be aware, I am retiring at the end of this year.  To all of the wonderful people whom I have had the opportunity to work with over the past 37 years – thank you.  The times shared, friendships forged and the incredible successes which we have enjoyed have been an extraordinary part of my life.  I am very proud of what we have achieved and they have been times I will never forget.  It has been a privilege to be a member of the Frankston High School community.

I wish all of you every happiness and success in the future and a safe and happy Christmas and festive season.

Ms Helen Wilson

Senior Campus Principal
