Middle School News
It is hard to believe that this is the last newsletter article I will write for Frankston High School. It has been such a privilege to be a part of this school and to work with such great students, families and teachers.
The previous two years were tough on everyone, but it has been so nice that 2022 has been uninterrupted and many of our significant programs are reaching great heights once again. The End Of Year Music Concert was phenomenal. The Senior Band achieved ‘Platinum’, the highest level of attainment at the Melbourne Bands Festival. The Intermediate and Training Bands showed that there is great talent to come in our Music program over the next few years. The Choir was also outstanding. Many schools were unable to retain their Music program after two years of remote learning, so it is great to see ours flourishing.
This week I attended the Sports Presentation night where more than 80 students were recognised for representing Frankston High School at State or National level events. It is such a credit to these students and their coaches that they have maintained their fitness levels and have the talent and determination to compete at an elite level. It is also important to recognise the many students who have continued their commitment to sport by participating in our many, diverse sporting teams.
The Art, Media and Design Exhibition that took place a few weeks ago displayed the creative talents of our students. Student work from Visual Arts, Visual Communication, Media and Design Technology was showcased. The creativity and thought-provoking works were a credit to our innovative Arts and Technology Departments. Opening night also featured some of our excellent musicians and delicious platters from the Food Technology Department.
I think it is wonderful that students have all of these opportunities to further develop their talents and interests in a school that also excels academically. Teachers here are so knowledgeable and skilled that they give students every chance to reach their potential with their studies and pursue their aspirations.
All in all, I have mixed feelings about retirement. I am looking forward to new challenges, but I will miss Frankston High School and the teachers, students and families who work together to make it such a great school. I am confident that the school will continue to move from strength to strength.
