Teaching Excellence Program

Congratulations to Mrs Stephanie Heyes, Ms Emily Vogt, and Mr Jon Christie on being accepted into the second intake of this program offered by the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership in 2023.  Ms Colette Joannidis, who is joining us in 2023 (English), has also been selected to participate. It is a wonderful opportunity for these staff members and for our school to be so strongly represented is great recognition of the quality of teaching here at the school.

Netball Victoria – 2022 Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Mr Chris Sutcliffe who has been awarded the 2022 Teacher of the Year by Netball Victoria. This is a fantastic achievement to a very deserving recipient. Mr Sutcliffe has dedicated many years to building our outstanding netball program at Frankston High School which has impacted so positively on the lives of so many students and their families.

Early Commencement

It has been great to see so many excited students with the beginning of our Early Commencement program which ran last week for 2023 VCE/VM students, and continues this week for students in Years 8 to 10 in 2023.  Our Early Commencement program allows students to meet most of their teachers for 2023 and to experience their new subjects. The work covered during this time becomes part of their assessment for Semester 1 next year.

Portsea Lifesaving Camp

Well done to Mr James Cameron for organising and leading a wonderful Lifesaving Camp at Portsea during Week 9. Thank you also to the following staff who attended and supported the camp: Mr Adam Martin, Mr Joshua Smith, and Mr Rowan Cameron.  They were supported by some alumni students in running various activities throughout the week, along with members from Portsea Surf Lifesaving Club. I had the pleasure of attending and being ‘rescued’ by students who were able to demonstrate high level skills. We are excited for the students/lifesavers who completed their qualifications to begin or continue their patrolling experience at Portsea Back Beach throughout the summer.  A big thank you to the wonderful team at Portsea Surf Lifesaving Club for their efforts and connection with our school.

Year 7 2023 – Information Evening and Orientation Day

We held our Year 7 2023 Information Evening on Tuesday 29 November to a full audience of families whose children are joining us in Year 7 next year.  We welcomed these students on Tuesday 13 December for their Orientation Day. The day began in the Performing Art Theatre (PAT) with an assembly before students were dismissed into their 2023 classes for a fun filled day of activities.  Thank you to Ms Samantha Cody, Mr John Simon, Ms Phoebe Macreadie, Ms Catherine Kyriakos, Mrs Sharee Dew and the Junior Sub School Team for their efforts organising these events.
