International Day of People with a Disability

As the Assistant Principal of Wellbeing and Inclusion it is timely to include an article about the upcoming International Day for People with a Disability.  Each year the UN announces a theme. This year the theme is ‘Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world.’  Click here to explore more.  Disabilities are both seen and unseen and can be physical, psychological, cognitive, emotional or a combination.

At CHPS we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, regardless of abilities. Our competent staff go above and beyond everyday to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in all activities to the capacity that they feel comfortable. Partnership with parents and carers in this space is vital and we really appreciate it.

We have a strong Education Support program and are always exploring ways to be as inclusive as we possibly can. Tomorrow our Preps will be learning more about different disabilities.  Please see some great links below that you might want to explore with your children (Courtesy of Sally Bentley’s work!).

Journey Tracks

Recently our Indigenous students concluded the Journey Tracks Program. They thoroughly enjoyed learning more about their cultural identities. Please check out our Community News page, which this week contains a recent Indigenous Newsletter.

Until next time,
