Principal's Reflection

Mr. Brad Vallance

Acting Principal

Welcome back!

This week our Year 7, 11 &12 students returned to Red Cliffs Secondary College on Tuesday, 31st January and our Year 8, 9 & 10 students returned on Wednesday, 1st February. The staggered start was a great way for our new Year 7 students to come into our school on their first day with a greater opportunity to get settled, meet their teachers, and participated in orientation activities. This week as been extremely busy with so much happening around our school. I hope that all students have now settled and back into the routine of secondary education.

Uniform

It was great to see many of our students return in correct school uniform this week. However, it was disappointing to see some students not meeting the expected uniform standards, so I would like to clarify any confusion with the updated uniform policy for 2023. I ask all parents and guardians to support your children to ensure they are meeting the expected uniform standards in 2023.

  • Navy Blue or Black Shorts are permitted.  Shorts must not be shorter than mid-thigh and have any logos. Tights, bike shorts, football shorts are not acceptable.
  • Navy Blue or Black Skorts
  • Navy Blue or Black Track Pants
  • Plain Black Shoes
  • Black or White socks

Grey bottoms are now phased out and not accepted as part of our uniform policy in 2023. Parents and guardians will be contacted if students are out of uniform.

The Resilience Project Community/Parent Presentation

From 13th -16th February, Martin Heppell from The Resilience Project will be delivering a presentation for all students. An event on COMPASS has been created, please ensure you have given permission for your child to attend this event. There is also an opportunity for parents and guardians to attend a presentation, on Wednesday, 15th February 6:30pm-8:00pm. Parents will need to register for this event at the following link.

Swimming Sports Carnival

Our School Swimming Sport Carnival will be held next Tuesday, 7th February, 2023.  Students must have consent by midnight on Monday, 16th February, 2023. Consent can be given via COMPASS Events.  All students will need to arrive at school and head to the Activity Centre to have their named marked off the roll.  All students must have closed in shoes when walking down to the pool. No thongs/sandals permitted.

Once again, I welcome you all back to Red Cliffs Secondary College for 2023 and I look forward to catching up with you all over the course of the year. Please feel to reach out if you have any questions about your child’s progress at any stage.
