School Council President

Grade 6 graduation

Last night was our grade 6 graduation where we celebrated our students' time at ACPS, bid them farewell, and wished them all the best for their exciting next year at high school.

It's a night of celebration, but also one of sadness. We've watched them grow and develop from tiny little preps who didn't know their way around our school into the leaders and role models that they've become.

Congratulations to all our graduating students. We'll miss you but we take comfort in knowing that your learning journey has only just begun. We've done our best to teach you both academic and life skills and know that the future ahead of you is bright.

The night couldn't take place without a huge effort from all the teachers, parents and students who helped organise the ceremony. It's a daunting task but one that is very much worthwhile to give the grade 6s the farewell they so richly deserve.

We will be putting together a private online photo album of photos from the night (including all students receiving their graduation certificates) and will send out the link to grade 6 families via COMPASS once the album is complete.

Thank-you to the Community Bank Warrandyte, the Warrandyte Lions Club, Warrandyte Donvale Rotary Club and the Andersons Creek Primary School council for their continued support of our graduation and awards.

It was also the first year for a new award - the Menzies Shield Award for a student who shows leadership, hard work, optimism, respect and responsibility. This award was provided by Keith Wolahan MP and is named after the Menzies electoral division our school is located in.

Thank-you also to Scrumdiddely Cakes and Cafe for feeding our students and teachers with their delicious lasagne and for their gorgeous ACPS-themed cookies.

Farewell to De Prior

On behalf of the ACPS School Council, I would like to say farewell to our Business Manager De Prior. De, we'll miss you both professionally and personally and ACPS is lucky to have had you managing our finances so well for so long.

De was literally the first person I met when I showed up at school during school holidays. I naively thought that schools would be staffed during that time (they're not normally but De was at her desk working), and I've worked closely with her ever since I joined the school council in 2016.

De has been a wonderful member of the school community, firstly as a parent of four children and then as a staff member, and we wish her all the best in her new role at Auburn Primary School.

Child safety and wellbeing at Andersons Creek Primary School: information for families and the school community

The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Andersons Creek Primary School has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our school website.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please contact the school principal on 9844 2757 or at andersons.creek.ps@education.vic.gov.au.
