Silver Medalist in World Skills Challenge!
Congratulations to Year 11 student Zach Gerrans who recently competed in the World Skills Challenge, placing 2nd in Australia! Zach was nominated by his TAFE lecturer to compete in the World Skills Challenge, while studying a pre-apprenticeship in carpentry.
Zach was also fortunate enough to meet the Premier of Western Australia, the Education Minister and had dinner at Government House along the way.
Jimmy Takes to the Stage
Congratulations to Year 7 student, Jimmy Jurjevich who will be performing in 'The Snowman' in December alongside Perth Symphony Orchestra as a soprano vocalist! Jimmy, who has two WA Opera productions under his belt, has recently made his theatre debut this year as Benji in Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
"I enjoy drama and entertaining people, and I love singing because [the voice] is such a portable instrument. You can sing almost anywhere and your instrument is always with you. I’m very excited to perform with such talented musicians, but also slightly nervous."
Hosted by Scotch College, The Snowman is a delightfully engaging show that not only brings the spirit of Christmas to life, but introduces kids to the magic of a live orchestra in a way that’s fun, relevant, and meaningful. After meeting all the different instruments of the orchestra and joining Perth Symphony on a musical adventure to the North Pole, this fun family show concludes with a Christmas sing-a-long and a visit from a very busy man in a red suit.
