Middle Stump Initiative
On Saturday, founder of the Middle Stump Initiative Clint Dann performed a welcome to country before the First XI match on Mann oval. Trinity are using a Maali Nyitting (Swan Dreaming) stump designed by Julianne Wade. This artwork shows the Maali (black swan) nestled on the shores of the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River) in Whadjuk Boodja (Perth and tells a story from the the Nyitting Dreaming (creation period) which explains how the Maali came to this land with its black and white feathers.
Clint hopes to see all middle stumps featuring Indigenous Australian artwork, representing the First People of our Country, to be used at a national level.
