Teaching & Learning 5MH

In 5MH we have been looking at famous Australian landmarks. We identified where these landmarks are on a map of Australia and then chose our own landmark to research. We learnt how to identify key information and facts within texts. We classified our findings into subheadings and presented our learning on a brochure.
Over the past 3 weeks, we have had the opportunity to learn how to play lacrosse. Lacrosse is a unique and enjoyable sport that can be played by students and adults of all ages (Tahlia). Catching with a lacrosse stick is a lot harder than what you think (Cody). Thank you to Mr Smith for organising this for us.
Grade 5 sport is well underway and we love it! Grade 5 sport is helping to prepare us for Grade 6 summer sport next year. We hope by learning the rules and skills needed to play cricket, softball, newcombe and rounders we will be very competitive and successful against other primary schools within our district.
Did you know:
- Bowling straight on the cricket pitch can be quite the challenge (Taj).
- LBW stands for ‘Leg Before Wicket’ (Rhys).
- Newcombe is similar to volleyball. Instead of hitting the ball with your hands you must catch and throw the ball (Levi).
- The pitcher in softball must throw the ball underarm and between the shoulders and knees of the batter (Poppy).
