Principal's message

Hi all,

It has once again been a great week at Jamo. There is a great deal happening, which creates an air of normality, as we all usually go a bit crazy this time of year trying to get things done and organised for our end of year and Christmas.

I must congratulate staff on the work they continue to do.  Re-organising camps and implementing swimming for some our students whilst planning and organising assessments, reports, graduation, final assemblies and end of year activities shows how much they want to ensure our students finish the year off on a good note.

The Jamo Juniors transition program for our new Foundation students has started exceptionally well.  It is such a important process to go through before starting school and will give our students a taste of what's to come next year.  It helps them connect with other students and begin to feel comfortable and safe in their new surroundings.  It also allows our Foundation teachers to start developing great relationships with the students in readiness for 2022.

I must say that I am excited about the prospects for 2022.  We are delighted with the new structure of straight classes in Foundation to Year 2.  It allows our programs to flow between year levels more easily without grouping students between classes for specific sessions.

As I said last week, we have made some great appointments to fill positions for 2022.  I would like to formally welcome the following teaching staff:  Sara Tajima, Kieran McGuinness & Caitlyn Hill.  We would also like to welcome our new office staff: Deanne Mollenoyux & Skye Nichols.

Over the next week or so, we will begin to put together key dates so everyone knows what is happening with the end of this year and early next year.

I dropped into the Splash Factory pool today to have a look at the 5/6 swimming program.  The level of instruction the students are receiving was very impressive, and as we know, swimming is a life skill that we utilise so often as we grow and move through life.

Have a great week, everyone.
