Assistant Principal

Hi there everyone!

Being that the end of the school is near, we can sense that our summer break is close. In doing so, we can reflect upon the many experiences we have forged upon in the last year: whether challenging or fruitful, yet with a view for an even better 2022!

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Term 4 SSG Meetings

This week, our Term 4 SSG Meetings are  concluding. Whilst they are a great forum for you to once again meet your child's/children's teacher for this year, we do encourage you to get to know your child's new teacher commencing next week. Feel free to leave a note in your child's communication book to initiate contact and to reinforce any vital feedback to support this new transition.

Transition Week

Speaking of new classrooms, our annual Transition Week will commence this coming Monday. Teaching teams will spend the duration of our upcoming Curriculum Day (Friday, 10th September) identifying and planning for all of your child's/children's individualised learning program and support needs. In doing so, we anticipate that your child/children will have a greater likelihood in experiencing a positive transition for the year ahead.

We hope that your child/children will also benefit from receiving a individualised social story outlining their new teaching team, classroom and routines. As parents/carers, we encourage you to establish ongoing positive partnerships with your child's teaching teams to advocate and plan for a great year ahead.

Student Leadership

2021 has been an exciting year in establishing systems and processes for our student leaders to exhibit their voice, agency and leadership throughout the school. In advocating the interests and needs of their peers, our long list of leaders have planned and conducted 1) a range of school-wide events held on our Cultural Calendar and 2) handed out PBS Tickets their peers in the playground, to support the implementation of our School-wide Expected Behaviours: Look After Self, Others and Property year long.

Clearly, our need to conduct Remote and Flexible Learning this year,  impact greatly upon the consistent flow of these systems and processes . We certainly hope for a more steady 2022 so that we can we can see 'the fruits of their labour'.

We offer a huge hank you to all 2021 Student Leaders. They have demonstrated  great skill to present in from of the whole group, to classrooms and to others throughout the school in a positive and respectful way. They are a credit to themselves. Our list of leaders are, as follows:

  • Laith Hassani
  • William Kelly
  • Ahmad Kaddour
  • Lachlan Minns
  • Mohammed Demirel
  • Emily Minns
  • Jackson Bacon-Hill
  • Tyler Sauzier
  • Moses Ali
  • Christopher Lolatgis
  • Lucas Powell
  • Aaron Rye
  • John McAlister
  • Jordan Schembri

With some of our Student Leader reaching the completion of their 2-year tenure, we have further vacancies for 2022. We are excited at the prospect of establishing new faces in our team and are currently seeking nominations to fill these vacancies.

Seesaw Survey Feedback

The response from the Seesaw Parent Survey has been immense. We have received more than double the amount of responses than in previous years. Thank you for your commitment to forwarding your personal insights relevant to yours and your child's experience using Seesaw this year.

The overall indication is that he vast majority of  our families value Seesaw, especially as a user friendly forum to 1) receive feedback regarding your child's learning onsite and 2) when delivering learning  at home during Remote and Flexible Learning. Whilst we understand that not all students prefer or feel confident to access their learning online, other students can shine in this format.

We now understand that our families want to:

  • continue to use Seesaw in 2022
  • see continued footage of their child/children interacting with others in their day to day learning day
  • see opportunities for their child to access learning on here in new ways, such as for homework tasks or to complete tasks on there as part of their regular learning experience
