Assistant Principal

Dear parents, carers and friends of the school community,

As we approach the end of the year,I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our families/carers, staff and community members for your ongoing support and commitment in ensuring the safety, wellbeing and learning needs of our students was maintained throughout this tumultuous year. It is during the most challenging times, that we are able to measure our persistence, responsiveness and resilience; and we certainly demonstrated these qualities this year.

Moments like these really emphasise how honoured and proud I am to be a member of the JSA community; a school that continually recognises and supports the individual and unique qualities of every student.  Our success as teachers and education support staff is indebted to our students and families/carers, who enable us to understand how we can better support their needs.

This commitment demonstrates how our school values of Respect, Empathy and Inclusion; is at the centre of every decision we make and how we continually work together to foster a safe and supportive school community for all leaners to flourish.

I wish you all a very happy and safe Merry Christmas and summer break. Use this time with family and friends to unwind and recharge in preparation for an exciting year ahead!

Professional Learning Communities (PLC) Instructional Leaders

Thank you to our 2021 PLC Instructional Leaders; Miranda Ingram (Teaching and Learning Coach/Learning Specialist), Katelyn Leddy (Room 4 Teacher and Learning Specialist) and Cynthia Kearney(Room 11 Teacher and Learning Specialist, for their contributions in the planning and delivery of PLC meetings this year.

PLC meetings delivered to teachers each week, was of the most engaging and instrumental forums that drove school improvement. Our PLC Instructional Leaders supported teachers to work collaboratively at the school level, to improve student outcomes in literacy and numeracy. They also supported teachers to identify how to use assessments to inform their teaching and to unpack what student voice, agency and leadership looks and sounds like in a specialist setting.

As a result, PLCs supported the school to increase student learning by creating a culture that is:

  • focussed on continuous improvement by linking the learning needs of students with the professional learning and practice of teachers
  • committed to professionalism
  • fuelled by collaborative expertise

I would like to welcome our Sub-School Leaders who will be our 2022 PLC Instructional Leaders next year. Welcome  Rachael Macmillan (Primary Sub-School Leader) and Linda Wakeling (Middle -Sub-School Leader) who will be new to the role and Miranda Ingram (Secondary Sub-School Leader who is continuing her role).

I know our new PLC Instructional Leaders look forward to engaging with our new PLC teams next year, as we embark on our 2022 AIP journey; exploring Numeracy, Regulation and Communication teaching and learning practices.

2022 Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) Visual

In preparation for 2022, leadership have been busy working behind the scenes to plan for the next Annual Implementation Plan. To support our school community to  actively engage with the AIP and to take ownership over the actions outlined in the plan, we have developed a AIP visual which will encapsulate the essence and vision of our strategic direction in 2022.
