Dear Parents, Carers and Families,
Now that we are in Week 7 I am starting to get to meet many of our community members and families , which I am thoroughly enjoying!
I know I've said it before, but what a terrific community to be a part of!
This week saw the commencement of Prep 2022 transition sessions. It has been lovely to host this onsite and see each of the students as they get to know their peers, teachers and classroom spaces.
The culmination of Prep transition will conclude with Statewide Transition Day on Tuesday 7th December.
On this day the Prep 2022 students will attend from 9 - 11am and meet their teachers and see their classrooms ready for the first day in Prep on Thursday 3rd February.
On the 7th December we will also have a Step Up Day for all students in Years 1 - 5. Students will meet their 2022 teachers, be in their new classrooms for the afternoon and get a chance to build relationships with their 2022 classmates.
2021 Year 6 students will have the entire day at their new secondary schools.
Please note that any final parent/family requests for student placements in 2022 needs to be in writing to the school email account by Friday 19th November.
As mentioned in previous newsletters, we are aiming to host some onsite school events before the end of term. Along with this organisation comes the need to meet the Department of Health vaccination requirements. Therefore, in preparation, please note that to come onsite all adults will need to QR code in and show their vaccination certificates, as per Department guidelines. We are awaiting further updates from the Government in regards to lifting of restrictions and once this is published we will be able to clarify arrangements for both Year 6 Graduation, Tuesday 14th December and our End of Year Assembly on Thursday 16th December. We anticipate there will be some type of onsite celebration for the community for both of these events and more information will come once Guidelines have been clarified.
We have many staff movements in 2022 and I will be able to provide an update of staff who are leaving in our next newsletter.
However, I would like to inform you of the appointment of our second Assistant Principal for 2022. We warmly welcome Paul Hill to Hillsmeade PS and he will commence with us in December. Paul's role will include student engagement, student voice and agency, and Inclusion.
It sure is an exciting time at Hillsmeade!
Until next week - stay safe and healthy!
