Principal’s Message

The year is off to a flying start and already there is much good news to share. With COVID-19 restrictions greatly reduced, our students are once again able to go on excursions and travel to compete in sports and other school activities. This is a welcome change for everyone.

We were delighted to be present last week to see 2021 Year 12 graduate, Alisha Conomos announced as this year’s winner of the Lillian Hulbert Memorial Prize. This was the third year Alisha had put her hat in the ring, and her ever increasing list of accomplishments makes this committed and resilient young lady a deserving award winner.

Congratulations to Matilda Currey in Year 9 for her wide array of success in cricket, netball and touch football this term. Matilda represented the school at the North West zone state cricket and has also been selected to play in the Under 15s CHS netball trials.

Art Teacher and Student Wellbeing Advisor, Ms Cherrie Pocock took four students on a once in a lifetime trip to Sydney last week as part of the Resilience Arts Project. The trip opened the talented young art students’ eyes to the many different forms of art.

Planning for our new school continues to move along at a good pace. The latest update from the Department of Education School Infrastructure department is included in this newsletter.

We have welcomed a new school counsellor in Mr Corey Swan. Corey brings with him a wealth of experience and has wasted no time getting involved in the wider community, coaching rugby and playing in the weekly tennis competition. We are really pleased to have Corey with us and closely supporting our students.

Lastly, with the winding back of COVID restrictions, our BushBots robotics team are back and working at a rapid pace to be able to participate late this week in the first round of the 2022 FIRST International Robotics Championships. Well supported by a seasoned team of mentors, this new team is sure to have a great experience competing and learning about the incredible world of robotics.

Yours sincerely
