Year 7/8

YEAR 7 & 8 ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS NEWS

I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate our year 7 and 8 students on a fantastic start to 2021. All students are to be commended on how quickly daily routines have been established and high expectations have generally been met. This will no doubt continue to improve with time.

The focus in the Green Building in addition to developing positive rapport and getting to know students will be continuing to ensure that students are:

  • in full school uniform
  • wearing the government mandated masks inside buildings
  • adhering to classroom routines and behavioural expectations
  • getting to school and classes on time
  • bringing correct materials (particularly charged laptop) to each lesson
  • not using mobile phones on the college premises

Specific reminders around appropriate footwear, absence of jewellery and smart watches, no eating/drinking indoors, and using bins to place waste and rubbish are also worthwhile. Please refer to the college website for the current uniform policy for further information of expectations on uniform and college follow up.

Home Group teachers are currently reaching out to all parents/guardians to introduce themselves, in addition to touching base about engagement and support so far this year.

In the spirit of living sustainably, I am imploring all parents/guardians to please provide their student with a re-usable mask. Whilst we have disposable masks available at school, it is preferred that students bring their own from home please.

Finally, a huge thanks to parents/guardians and College staff for their support of our young people as they resettle into the academic rigours at CESC. For most, it is the beginning of a long relationship to support every student to exceed their potential. It has been a great first fortnight for me at the college. The entire community has been extremely welcoming and I have immensely enjoyed beginning to get to know students, staff and families.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student's Home Group teacher. I look forward to connecting with you all across term 1, along with the Year 7 & 8 leaders.

Year 7 - Mr Hill, Ms Bond & Mr Kearney

Year 8 - Ms McLean, Mr Simon & Mr Struth

Take care and stay safe.
