From the Principal's Desk

We have recently received advice about operations for next year. I will communicate with you in detail in the next newsletter about what will happen in 2021.
Reminders
Some reminders for 2021:
- There will be two School Development Days (SDDs) in January. Students will return on Friday 29 January 2021.
- If you have planned a trip and you will be returning after 29 January or your child will not return to LPS in 2021, please complete the form at the link below: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScHPik_Nz9FkE3898W-_8J_XuHZQBwya51pllfxuNjs1sz5RQ/viewform?usp=sf_link
Some families have completed this already. Thank you!
We still continue to receive new enrolments for 2021 and advice about students who are leaving, so our numbers are not settled. Students will remain with their 2020 class for a short period until we have a better understanding of our student enrolments.
Year 6 farewell
We were so fortunate that the Catholic Club were able to accommodate our Year 6 farewell arrangements this year. A big thank you to Miss Hall and Miss Smith and Stage 3 staff for their organisation.
It was a lovely evening and our Year 6 students had a wonderful time.
200 years of Campbelltown
On 1 December 1820, Lachlan Macquarie founded the town Campbelltown. He named the town after his wife’s maiden name Campbell. To celebrate this, Campbelltown Council provided native plants to local schools to create their own garden.
Thank you to Mrs Stephens, who liaised with council for us to receive some local native plants to create our commemorative garden. Thank you also to Mr Mitchell who created the garden bed. Mrs Hambley, Mrs Stephens and our student leaders helped Mr Mitchell to plant the natives and create the garden. It is located under our flag poles.

#proudprincipal
This fortnight’s first #proudprincipal moment goes to Sideeqa and Jaxon from KC. I really love the way they are using their knowledge of sounds and their butterfly cards to help them spell and write. Well done Mrs Croman and congratulations to Sideeqa and Jaxon for meeting their writing goals!
The next #proudprincipal award goes to Juliet from 5/6B. During library lessons with Mrs Matthews, Juliet has been designing a robot that provides drinks to humans and runs on solar power. She designed her robot using a plan and then produced it using the Design Makers application on the iPad. She then used the 3D printer to create her model. I was so impressed with her designing skills. Well done Juliet and thank you to Mrs Matthews!
Farewell to families
Traditionally, at the Year 6 farewell, the parents come in at the end and there is a formal part of the evening. The Principal usually gives a speech during this time. At LPS, Mrs Wood started a tradition where she farewells families leaving us during this time. I have continued this tradition. I was not able to farewell families this year in the usual manner, due to the restrictions in place and parents being unable to attend the night. I have decided this year, to farewell our outgoing families in the newsletter this year too. We have many families leaving this year, for this I am sad, but I wish them all the best.
