VET – Vocational Education and Training
VSC VET students commenced the 2021 school year with a great deal of enthusiasm and nervous excitement in anticipation of the new learning journey to be experienced in their selected VET courses. Currently 67 students have enrolled in VET with a whopping 51 students commencing the 1st year of their VET journey!
VET courses are studied off campus either through a TAFE/Training provider or affiliated Secondary College via an auspice arrangement. VET students are encouraged to navigate their own way to VET to foster independence, responsibility and time management skills.
These skills positively contribute to improving learning engagement, resilience, confidence and sense of self.
VSC students selected VET courses in a range of areas from: Acting, Allied Health, Applied Fashion, Beauty Services, Business, Community Service, Dance, Design Fundamentals, Early Childhood Education & Care, Equine Studies, Hospitality/Kitchen operations, Make-up, Music Performance, IT/IDMT/CISCO, Screen & Media, Sport & Rec with a large volume of students choosing from the extensive range of trades courses; Building & Construction (Carpentry) pre-app, Electrotechnology (Electrical) pre-app, Engineering, Furniture Making, Horticulture/Landscaping and Plumbing pre-app.
To date the feedback has been extremely positive with many students reporting they prefer this style of learning and really look forward to their next VET session.
Temporarily VET has moved to ONLINE learning during the 5 day lockdown period. VET students are encouraged to regularly check the MS VET Team for information relating to their VET course in addition to regularly checking personal/school emails and the email account created with their VET provider for course information and instructions on how to access the VET learning materials. We are hopeful VET will move back to onsite learning quickly so students can once again enjoy their VET learning experience!
