Bargaining

Bargaining News

At this time management and our school board are not pushing to reopen OGSD schools for in-person instruction.  OGEA is taking a wait and see approach and will resume bargaining if there is a change from management.  Our last proposal was to declare distance learning for the remainder of the school year to give staff, students and families a sense of certainty.

We will continue to advocate for a return to schools when it is safe to do so.  Our position aligns with that of CTA.  CTA recently sent a letter to California’s governor outlining what a safe return to schools would look like.  Please read the press release and the letter to Newsom.

As of January 29, Santa Clara County remains in the purple tier of California’s Covid-19 dashboard.  This means that there is widespread community transmission of the virus in our county.  As of right now, Oak Grove School District is not pushing to reopen schools.

There has been a ton of news about the governor’s proposals to reopen schools.  As of January 29, the proposal has not passed through the legislature.  We will continue to monitor this situation and bargain appropriately depending on what passes the legislature.  It remains the position of CTA that counties that are in the purple tier should not be opening schools.
