Marian Annual Awards Evening

Originally scheduled for Thursday 13 October but rescheduled to Tuesday 18 October due to the significant weather events we have experienced over Spring our Annual Awards Evening was held in School Gymnasium.

The evening was an opportunity to acknowledge over 170 students who have been recognised for the ways in which they live out our Kildare Ministries Core Values over the course of 2023.

These Awards are under the following categories:

  • Strength and Kindness
  • Living with Joy and Wonder
  • Practicing Justice and Service
  • Welcoming All
  • Love of Learning

It also included those students who received the Delany awards for:

  • Academic Achievement and Endeavour
  • Sporting Achievement and Endeavour
  • Performing Arts Achievement and Endeavour

The final award presented on the night was the Kinsella Award – presented to the Year 12 student who, over her time at Marian, has embodied all of our core values and consistently demonstrated an understanding of what it means to be a Kildare Ministries/Brigidine student.

This year that award was presented to Charli-Rose Coote – a very worthy recipient.

The final part of the evening was the recognition and roll call of our Year 12 class of 2022 and they processed out together at the end of the night.

We thank all of our families for their attendance and adaptability with the change of date at the last minute and for their support of such a significant event on the school calendar.

In this edition of the Marian, we have listed all of the award recipients who were acknowledged on the evening.

Selection of the Year 12 Leadership team for 2023

With the beginning of Term 4 and the Year 12 cohort heading towards their exams we began the formal process of selection of the Student Leadership Team for 2023.

This process involves the students meeting the following expectations:

  • Submission of the Student Leadership Booklet
  • Participation in the Student Leadership Day at the end of Term 3
  • Submission of a formal application to Mr Pisani addressing the criteria for the role of Lamp Bearer
  • Formal interview with the panel of Mr Pisani, Mrs Stafford and Ms Williams
  • Voting process within the Year 11 cohort and the staff.

It is very pleasing to announce that our Student Leadership team for 2023 is:

Lamp Bearers - Eleni Karagiozis and Vy Pham

Student Representative Council:  Olivia Sloman, Avelynn Chng, Bettina Dy and Zaara Banu.

We look forward working with all the elected leaders at Year 12 for 2023 in identifying the goals that they would like to set for next year.

In further editions of the Marian, we look forward to revealing what those goals will be for 2023.

Selection Process for Leaders at Years 8 -11

The selection of student leaders at the levels Years 8-11 has also begun as we move towards the end of the year. This involves student nominations and a voting process at each level.

We look forward to identifying these chosen leaders in the coming weeks.

Red Jumpers for our Year 10’s

A reminder to all of our Year 10 students and families that as they move towards the senior part of the school each student will need to move from a blue jumper to a red jumper for 2023.  The uniform shop at school is well stocked with red jumpers to facilitate this process for each student.

Uniform and Canteen Review Update

As you would be aware from previous editions of the Marian the Student Leadership Team in 2022 has worked on some subtle changes to the school uniform particularly our PE uniform and significant changes to the Canteen.

We intend to inform our community of these changes by the end of 2023.
