Year Advisers Report

Year 8 & 10

As Year 8 draws towards its inevitable conclusion and transitions into Year 9, students are hurriedly completing their final assessments tasks ready for their all-important school report.

Earlier this term students completed the Love Bites Junior program which focused on respectful relationships, bullying and gender. I am proud to say that our Year 8 students received high praise from the facilitators in regard to not only their maturity, but behaviour on the day.

It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through the term, it is wonderful to see how much Year 8 is developing.

The start of Term 4 has been extremely busy. However, Year 10 have embraced the hustle and bustle that has been presented to them.

Students have completed the majority of the assessment tasks for Year 10. Although this has been stressful for most, I am proud of them for giving it their very best. We have not had a ‘normal/full’ year at school since Year 7, so it is crazy to see how far Year 10 have come.

Natalie Wearne and I had the pleasure to attend the Annual Probus Club of Gosford West’s Good Citizenship Awards ceremony.  The Good Citizenship Award is given to Year 10 students who demonstrate meritorious conduct both in and out of the classroom, show diligence in performing allotted tasks and displays compassion towards other children. I would like to congratulate Emily Cui and Jake Lofthouse for receiving this prestigious award. You both truly deserve this recognition. Congratulations!

The last half of Term 4 is going to be extremely busy yet fun for Year 10. From Week 7 we start our Stage 6 Preparation Program. This program runs for 3 weeks, and the idea is to get the students ready for their last years of schooling and moving into the real world. We have several external providers coming into the school to conduct special programs for Year 10.

We also have a few excursions from RYDA, Terrigal Beach, Laser Tag, Clip N’ Climb, Kayaking to Stand up Paddle Boarding. The program will run as follows:

  • Week 7 (21-25 November) - Taster Lesson Week (Yr 11 Classes)
  • Week 8 (28 November - 2 December) - External Providers & Excursion Week
  • Week 9 (5-9 December) - Elective Day & Skill Building Week

I look forward to the upcoming weeks. Remember to be kind to others and yourself, try your best and have fun.
