From the Management Team

Although many of you may know me, by way of introduction, my name is Daniel Wooldridge and I currently have the pleasure of serving a community I love as Acting Deputy Principal. While I may be new to this role, I am not new to Endeavour College. I began at the College in 2008, directing the College Big Band after school and began a teaching role here in 2009 teaching Music and Mathematics.

Since that time, I have taught across many different learning areas, and since 2016 have served the College as the Year 12 Year Level Leader.

As I begin a new part of my journey, the Year 12 Students are also about to begin a new chapter of their journey.

It was a real pleasure to celebrate with the Class of 2022 on their final school day in

Week 2. Beginning with breakfast cooked and served by staff, followed by enjoying time with and celebrating the connections made within their Villages over the years and finally sharing their Year 12 Final Day Assembly with us. The Class of 2022 have now handed up their final assignments, are sitting their final exams and are now looking forward to what lies ahead. We look forward to celebrating their contribution to the College and their successes at the Valedictory Service in Week 6. We wish them every blessing as they end this part of their journey and move on to life beyond school.

As part of the Year 12 Final Day Assembly, we had the pleasure of announcing the new Student Executive for 2023 who begin their journeys as student leaders in the school.

As we introduced Fatima Hussein, Jesse Isaac, Cameron Preiss, Isabella Marafioti and Sienna Edwards to the College community, Pastor Chris Mann prayed for them and encouraged them to put on the whole armour of God.

I enjoy reading the book of Ephesians and am encouraged by the description of the armour of God in Chapter 6, but today I want to draw your attention to the following verse from Isaiah:

For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.  Isaiah 59:17

While Paul’s letter to the Ephesians leaves out any mention of the cloak of zeal, I see it as a critical component in a soldier’s service in working towards their goals. A cloak provides warmth and protection from the elements. It lets nothing stop you from achieving your objective. A cold, wet soldier is ineffective and demotivated.

As I reflect on some new beginnings today, I encourage you to remember that no matter what we do and no matter where we are headed, we must do it with zeal.

An all-encompassing understanding of our hope and passion, eagerness and fervour.

So, as I begin to serve in my new role and the Year 12s work towards a new chapter of their lives, I pray we can all work with zeal towards our goals.

Finally, I want to thank all those students and staff who were involved in the Remembrance Day Service today. It was a wonderful community event and want to thank our History Learning Leader, David Thiele, for his coordination of this important event in our school calendar.

Lest we forget.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. – John 15:13
