Fete- fabulous food hall

Tasty Treats from around the world

We enjoyed an array of tasty treats from around the world on Friday evening: including Somalian sambusa, Japanese karaage, Chinese dumplings, Ethiopian injira and curries, Indian samosa, Italian pizza and those oh-so-sweet Belgian waffles and fairy floss. Not to mention a sausage in bread or two!

The variety of sweet and savoury treats was a great celebration of our school community’s cuisines. Food stalls were led by our own school families; with many people contributing countless hours to ensure the food hall was a success. From preparing food, cooking sweet treats for the bake stall, to the many people who volunteered to serve with smiles on their faces the whole evening. A shout-out to the fete food committee: Katrien, Alice, Aziza, Louise, Ryn and Apeksha. And great contributions from Phoebe (cold drinks), Christian (pizza) and David (dim sims).

A huge thank you!

BBQ

Louise and Anwar from Eritrean Australian Humanitarian Aid led the busiest and most efficient BBQ we’ve had at school. 750 sausages cooked and sold in 2 hours!! We’re really pleased we can share profits from the BBQ with EAHA to support refugee schools in Sudan.

Sweet things

Specialty Cakes, slices and biscuits were a high-demand stall presented by Year 5.

Kate, Joyce and their friends hand-folded and cooked over 2,000 dumplings on Friday to serve fresh to the fete crowds. They worked side by side in the kitchen with Hanae, Noriko and their friends who prepared from scratch a tasty Japanese menu.
