Here are some of the highlights from our virtual SC meeting last week:

  • Jake from JSC presented the minutes from their recent meeting. He outlined the many great ideas that JSC have been discussing now that they are back at school and able to meet again. One of their upcoming events is the Free Dress Day this Friday and JSC will collect the gold coins from students and donate these funds to State Schools' Relief.
  • Each of the sub committees that had met this month presented their draft action plans for the year.
  • Christian’s Principal Report reflected on the school now being back up and running with normal processes since the return of students to on-site learning this month. Increased hygiene practices and visitor restrictions have been the most significant change to the school’s daily operations. He also outlined some considerations for 2021 and confirmed the rescheduled School Review dates.
  • Allison gave us an update on some of the CHAPS plans for Term 3 and beyond. We asked her to thank Nikky Edwards for the pertinent CHAPS Facebook updates that she has posted throughout this term (and even pre-COVID-19). Many parents have found these very helpful.
  • As a group we completed the SC self-assessment tool and reflected on the effectiveness, strengths and development areas relating to our current council members and operations. We also identified some additional actions that we would like to implement.

Thanks to the parents, teachers and additional school staff who volunteer their time to participate in SC meetings and sub committee meetings.

Our next meeting is on August 19th. If you would like to attend as a guest, or if you would be interested in joining one of the sub committees, please email either myself (sianjamison@icloud.com) or Christian (holdsworth.christian.p@edumail.vic.gov.au).
