Year 1/2 News 

We are officially half way through Term 3!

Despite our current climate, the students have been getting on with their learning, demonstrating quality and persistence in their work and showing an incredible amount of resilience. 

Personal Passion Project

The Personal Passion Projects have been progressing amazingly. Please remember that students can and should be working at their own pace. Whilst some students may still be at the research stage, others are creating and some students are moving on to their next passion. Wherever your child is at, we encourage you to support their PPP journey, remembering it is the process not the end product that is important.

After spending the first 4 weeks of Term 3 exploring poetry, students were able to connect prayer as a style of poetry. Students wrote prayers connecting to God’s creation of the world. 

To end our poetry unit, students chose their favourite poem to edit, publish and share with their peers. Students had the option to present their poem digitally or hand written. They practiced presenting their published poems in a loud clear voice and were able to explain how they improved their poems. 

Guided reading continues to be a success! For the past week, we have been exploring the features of non-fiction texts. This specifically links to our new writing genre of information texts. By now students will have chosen their own animal to research in the coming weeks.

Please ensure your child continues to attend all Zoom sessions. This includes both Guided Reading clinics and their additional Focus day Zoom each week. These sessions are planned to explicitly target student’s individual goals. If you are unable to attend a session, please email your child’s teacher.
