Well-being

What does School Wide Positive Behaviour look like during Home Learning?

Home Learning has certainly provided us with many challenges and some opportunities. We have been asked to lock down but in doing that, we have seen many examples of courage, kindness and collaboration and we have been so proud of our community’s resilience during this time.

As we find ourselves in the midst of another stint of Home Learning, the staff at Great Ryrie felt a need to revisit our school values and align them with the Home Learning experience. We have been very proud of our students for continuing to be Respectful, Responsible Learners and have been fortunate to be able to celebrate this in many ways during our online assemblies thanks to the remarkable film directing and producing skills of Mrs Murray.

In Google Meets this week, students have been given the opportunity to have input into a Home Learning Matrix, similar to those that already been developed at Great Ryrie for onsite learning. They have been asked to think about how our values apply to the Home Learning environment and the results of these conversations will be published over the next few weeks.

Thanks to all of the students and staff who are working together to develop this important framework to support us in Home Learning.

The idea behind the Bucket Filler theory is that each interaction with another person is a chance to build wellbeing. The theory developed by Clifton and Rath is that people have an invisible bucket and that by doing something kind for someone,  you not only fill their bucket but your own too!

Please email nominations to me via Compass or students can pass on to their teacher.
