David Lloyd

Here’s David Lloyd all the way back in 1964. This photograph was taken in his family garden in northern Wales. This car was one of Mr Lloyd’s first and most loved toys and many of his childhood memories revolve around it. That is until he was ten years old and he got his first bicycle.

Mr Lloyd still thinks about this toy and its connection to his adult life. He has driven cars and trucks for employment, he loves a good road trip and sometimes he wonders whether this toy car helped ‘map’ out his future in some way.

Although he was born in Liverpool, Mr Lloyd spent his first six  years living in northern Wales, before migrating to Australia with his family.

When questioned about this photo Mr Lloyd commented, ‘Yeah, I was a cute kid, apparently.’ We agree, cute right down to the brown sandals paired with ankle socks and the collared shirt. He has often thought about recreating this photograph, but he hasn’t been able to find an adult toy car that matches the one in this photo. What a perfect opportunity to get into the workshop and build something sentimental!
