Week 1 Term 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term Two. I hope you had some quality time with family and friends, and had a chance to recharge your mind and body ready for another great term of learning.

During the first week of the holidays, the Christian faith celebrated Easter. Easter celebrates the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. It is through the life, death and resurrection that believers are given the hope of life after death, eternal life. The resurrection of Jesus provides hope for all believers that life as we know it will be changed, not ended, when we die.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS - Thank you

A huge thank you to Mrs Gasbarro and all the students who participated in THE WAY TO THE CROSS on the last Friday of the term. It was wonderful to see the children perform this with such reverence. It was fantastic to have welcomed all the families to this whole school event.

As a faith and learning community, we will continue to explore the stories that recall the final days of Jesus’ earthly life.

Congratulations to Ava and Grace Quarrell who received the Sacrament of First Eucharist over the holidays.

This week is a very exciting week for the St Fidelis students, teachers and community. We have three great event to celebrate:

  • ANZAC DAY April 25 - Whole School Prayer
  • Friday April 29 - Official Opening of Junior Learning Areas Very Special Guests April 24 was St Fidelis Feast Day so the students will have an opportunity to celebrate this day with a free sausage sizzle (if they would like one) and a Zooper Dooper on Friday April 29. This celebration will be combined with our Official Opening of the Junior Learning Areas.

OFFICIAL SCHOOL OPENING

APRIL 29 9:30am

Over the holidays, we were able to finalise the details for our Official Opening of our Junior Learning Area. The Opening will begin at 9:45am sharp and all parents wanting to attend are asked to be seated by 9:30am.

We are excited and privileged to welcome some very special guest to this event: The Most Revered Peter Comensoli, Archbishop Of Melbourne, The Honourable James Merlino, Deputy Premier and Minister of Education, Ms Lizzie Blandthorn, State MP for Pascoe Vale, Mr Jim Miles, Executive Director Archdiocese of Melbourne Schools and other distinguished guests to this special occasion.

The Archbishop will begin by celebrating with a liturgy, which includes a special blessing of the building, followed by  Mr Merlino and Ms Lizzie Blandthorn who will officially open our new facilities with the unveiling of our school plaque and cutting of ribbon. This is a great opportunity to showcase our school and all we have to offer.

WINTER ALLOCATION OF AIR PURIFIERS

As part of the Victorian Governments measures to keep classrooms safe, the winter allocation of air purifiers were delivered just before term break. Over the holidays, the Air Purifiers have been distributed to every area around the school. All areas in our school now have one or more Air Purifiers. These extra purifiers are to ensure that all classrooms and other higher risk spaces in our school have an air purifier available. We are very grateful for these extra air purifiers and we thank the Victorian Government for this initiative.
