Principal's Patch

Sandra Thompson

Dear Parents

What an awesome day we had yesterday with Tim Davies and the TODAY show crew! Tim is an absolute credit to Channel 9 – He spoke to everyone who approached him, posed for as many photos as people requested, was highly entertaining on and off camera and all with the most amazing smile on his face. His ability to remember names and details to use in live crosses is exceptional. He is also very good at keeping secrets! Until the last minute I was totally focussed on promoting the kids and the all that we do at PBSS, and had absolutely no idea about the reason for the visit that was announced at the end of the show. I am still overwhelmed that this was organised without me knowing. A particular thank you to Lauren (parent), and of course Tyson and Megan for providing me with this lifetime memory😊

So, as you would have seen on TV and read yesterday via my email, I have announced my impending retirement date of Friday 20th May, 2022. It is certainly a surreal feeling … exciting, daunting and tinged with a sad apprehension about finishing at PBSS and EQ after 40 years. Quite simply, I love children, teaching, this school and leadership, to which I have given my all. Please check your emails for further details if you haven’t already.

The EQ recruitment process takes quite a few weeks to work through and although EQ were notified in the hope the new principal would be appointed in time to coincide with my departure date, at this point in time it looks as though it may be delayed for a few weeks. I may be proven wrong but my thoughts are, that allowing time for the official appointment to be approved through central office, and time for the incoming principal to tidy up loose ends at their current school, their actual start date might push out towards the end of term or the commencement of term three.

If this occurs, Megan Woodley will be acting principal in the interim, ably assisted by Tyson Upton. All information regarding this will be communicated to you as soon as we are aware.

I look forward to the next few weeks as an educator and principal of this wonderful school. It will be business as usual until that time.

Kind regards

Sandy Thompson
