Welcome back to Term 2.

If you have visited the library during Term 1, you may have noticed some changes in the library space taking place. New carpet has been laid and new chairs have been provided for the primary section. We also have a new meeting room for our staff and community to use and the library ‘s Teacher Resources room and office has had an upgrade. Over the Term 1 holidays, extra carpet has been laid, and new lighting and painting to the walls completed.

During Week 1, we were busy reorganising the bookshelves that had to be packed away for carpet laying, so library classes will resume in Week 2 this term. Students may still borrow at lunch time if they have their library bag.

Scholastic Book Club brochures have been sent home this week and all orders must be made online by 16 May. Later this year, we will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair at school as part of our Book Week activities.

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is well under way and students from all primary classes have been busy recording titles of books they have read. We have several students who have already completed the challenge and have read 20+ books. You can see who they are by checking out the poster of PRC champs in the library. The students in Years 3-6 who complete the challenge receive a key tag, a merit card and go in a prize draw for Dymocks and Scholastic Vouchers. The challenge ends in late August so students have plenty of time to get their reading records finished. K-2 classes have been participating by reading books with their teachers that focus on a different author each week. They will all receive their certificate later in the year.

Congratulations to classes 1T, 2P, 2T, 3P, 3M and 4L who all received a class prize for having all your overdue Term 1 library books returned. We are looking forward to another great term in the library so keep reading and discovering what the library can uncover for you.
