D&T Craftsman of the Year

In Week 10 of Term Three the Design and Technology Department ran the “Design and Technology Craftsman of the Year”. This is an annual competition and the Mazenod Old Boys Association (MOB) should be thanked for their continued support of the competition by providing the awards for our winners. Also, a big thank you to all the students who entered work in the competition and the results are below.

 

In 1st place was Jared Nenke from Yr. 12. Jared designed and constructed an outstanding Egg Chair which was very popular with the voters. The chair is constructed mainly of metal and has some cushions added for comfort and aesthetics. For his efforts Jared received $300 and a Certificate.

 

 

In 2nd place was Lewis Fresher from Yr. 12. Lewis designed and constructed a unique Marri coffee table with timber which was sourced from old boy Adam Gibson who owns and runs the New Leaf Gallery in the Bickley Valley. For his efforts Lewis received $100 and a certificate.

 

 

In 3rd place was Dane Coglan-Linsket from Yr. 12. Dane designed and constructed Jarrah coffee table with a distinctive blue topaz river running down the middle of the tabletop. For his efforts Dane received $50 and a certificate.

 

 

In 4th place was Matthew Loughton from Yr. 12. Matt designed and constructed an amazing coffee table which was made using Walnut. During construction Matt had to master several new techniques and intricate skills to get the project right. For his efforts Matt received $25 and a certificate.

 

 

In 5th place was Caelum Chodorowski from Yr. 12. Caelum designed and constructed a unique and interesting bench seat that he called the “Wagon Wheel Bench”. For his efforts Caelum received $25 and a certificate.
