Why I became a teacher

To be the type of teacher that I never had at school – one who believed in me and my ability, even if it wasn’t the same as everyone else.

Favourite  teaching successes

Watching students achieve things that they thought they couldn’t.

Whether it was climbing a high-ropes course on camp, or learning

the alphabet, or making a fantastic dish in the kitchen, or achieving

the grade/mark that they wanted.

Why I love teaching at BCS

I am really enjoying being back in a Central School.

I love the K-12 experience and enjoyed teaching the cooking aspect of the Stephanie Alexander Program last year to the primary students.

I love being able to engage the secondary students in leadership experiences through SRC and hope to build on K-12 student leadership opportunities in the future.

Something you do not know about  me

When I was seventeen, I was chosen to be part of the crew on a Tall Ship (an old square-rigger sailing ship) and sailed up the coast from Sydney to Newcastle. My favourite thing to do was to climb the rigging up the mast.  Because of that experience, I was then chosen to represent Girl Guides in the Tall Ships race from Hobart to Sydney in 1988. It was fantastic.
