Principal's Message

Message from Mrs Paula Hambly

It is with sadness I write my final newsletter article as Principal of Boorowa Central School. When I arrived four and a half years ago, I never thought about becoming Principal and all the wonderful things that I would have the opportunity to be a part of as the leader of this fantastic school.

In the last few weeks it has been a celebration of success with students representing the school successfully in sports and also, participating in cultural events like the Art & About initiative which I was lucky to be a part of. Our student’s artworks will be displayed in Yass at the Memorial Hall Tuesday to Thursday during Education week (week 3). If you are in Yass I recommend that you pop in to see the talent of our students and others in the region.

I was thrilled to support the first Secondary Merit Scheme excursion this week, which recognised the eighteen students who had received the most Bronze awards while also receiving at least one Service award. These students, none of whom had ever skied before, had two lessons and managed to attain enough skill to be able to safely ski to the bottom of the mountain, with a few falls along the way. It is a privilege to provide these experiences to those students who are consistently demonstrating our core values of respect, responsibility and participation.

I  would like to thank the entire community of Boorowa Central School for the opportunity to be a part of such a dynamic school and acknowledge the contribution of all students, staff and parents to my success as a Principal. It has been a fantastic place to be and I have loved coming to work every day. By working in a Central School I believe I have developed into a better leader and I thank the Primary department of our school for this experience. It was a very steep learning curve when I arrived but has been worthwhile. Thank you for the ongoing support I have received.  I know I will miss what I have here but am looking to the future and the very big differences that I will face at Batemans Bay High School.

I take this opportunity to wish Mr Jones all the best as Acting Principal for term three. I know he will do a fantastic job in his new role.

Good luck to everyone associated with Boorowa Central School and I wish you all the best in the future. Remember what a great school you have here and what you can achieve if you put your mind to it.
