Principal's Report

It's Holiday Time

What an exciting year we have had at the Springs in 2019!  I would like to thank the Springs community for the support that I have been given throughout the year.

Together we have seen another year of positive learning experiences.  We have come together on our open afternoons, we have celebrated book week, camps, excursions, sports events, assemblies, discos, celebration days, 100 days of school, House Team days, Mini Markets, Trivia nights and even days when our staff have dressed up.  Such activities bring us closer together as a community, we have fun together and enjoy each others company, and in doing so we create a community that supports our children to grow, feel safe and understand the power of positive relationships.

I cannot thank the staff enough for their support and hard work every day as we work towards our school’s mission. The leadership team, office staff and all our teachers and Learning Support Assistants are true professionals who work tirelessly to get the best results for our students.

I would like to thank our School Council on behalf of the community.  They have been an amazing group of parents and teachers to work with.  They provide valuable input into the school and work with us to provide great opportunities for the students.  This year we welcomed Alisha Keyzer as our School Council President - she has worked closely with us sharing the views of the parent community and working to achieve the best outcomes for students.  This was a particularly large role this year as we completed a whole school review and strategically planned for the next 4 years.

Most importantly thank you to the students.  They are the reason I come to work each day and why we work so hard.  They have worked to achieve their goals and I am exceptionally proud of the progress they have made.  I have enjoyed reading reports and hearing all about the academic progress that has been made throughout the year.

Staff Changes

In 2020 we will welcome back Ash Windley, Sarah Godfrey and Ashtyn Price.   We also welcome a new staff member to our school: Jemma Stevenson.

Each year we farewell staff who head off to a new stage in their lives and careers.  This year we will farewell Erin Talbot, Stacey Ploeg, Megan Schollar, Linda Roberts, Carla Rosenkotter, Vander Booker, Nat Cayford and Leah Haramoana.  We thank them for their wonderful contribution to our Professional Learning Community.  I'd also like to congratulate Louise Chamberlain who has been appointed as a Business Manager in another school.  This is a wonderful opportunity for Louise and we are fortunate to still have her working at the Springs each Thursday, ensuring our OHS standards remain high.

Year 6

Last week we celebrated the Graduation of all 114 of our year 6 students.  This cohort of year six's has brought us much pride as they have excelled as role models.  They started the year off with the first PSPS student leader conference and have displayed and built their skills throughout the year. This conference is now a yearly investment into our leaders.

I'd like to make special mention of our School Captains, Thomas and Scarlett, who have lead our students throughout the year.

2020 Essential Educational Items

School Council discussed the Essential Education Items that will be required by all students next year.  The amounts will be different for each year level due to the different materials required at each year level.  Each year we do our best to source affordable and bulk pricing to obtain great quality resources, whilst maintaining an affordable education for our families.

These are now published on Compass - if you require a payment plan we are happy to make one with you, please contact our Business Manager, Sue Northover, via the school email or phone if this is something that would assist you.

Wishing you all a safe and happy Christmas holiday.
