The Westall Way

At Westall, we have a set of learning behaviours that all members of our College community are expected to aspire to.

These learning behaviours were created by all students and teachers, so we have all had an input, share ownership of them and should hold each other accountable to them.

In every classroom, our learning behaviours, along with other important frameworks, will be displayed on large posters, so that wherever you are in the College, teachers and students will be able to refer to the Westall Way.

Westall Reward System

- Whole-School Points Update

Westall Points are earned for consistently demonstrating one or more of the Westall Way Learning Behaviours, or for a one-off achievement that demonstrates that students are behaving and learning in the Westall Way.

As students accumulate points for their positive behaviour, they will be presented with awards as they reach particular milestones (i.e. 25 points – Bronze award). The Westall Way ‘Wall of Achievement’ (overleaf) provides students with a pathway of achievement to ensure all students have an award to work towards. As students are successful in obtaining awards and climb the Wall of Achievement, certificates and prizes will be presented in sub school assemblies, and in the case of the top two awards, these will be presented in a whole school assembly by the Principal.

Students will accumulate points over their ENTIRE time at the College. The points total does not reset each year, meaning more students will be able to achieve the awards further up the wall of achievement.

Teachers learn too!

Have you ever wondered what teachers get up to once the bell goes at 3.15? Our College philosophy is around personalised learning and our teachers, like our students, are given choice in their learning.

Last week, staff took part in their choice of workshop to improve their skills and knowledge in three key areas: how we teach our students, how we build relationships with our students and how we give feedback to students on their learning. It was great to see so much passion for professional development - we really do have a dedicated group of teachers here at Westall!

The Resilience Project

- #DISMOMENT

TRP would love to learn about what makes you happy, and share moments of gratitude with you and your students! The next time you see something you're grateful for, something you're happy to have . . . stop. Point to it. And say "DIS!".

Watch this video for Hugh and Martin's explanation of the DISMOMENT challenge, and share your DISMOMENT with us:
