VCAL Students launch their Literacy Projects
Over the past two weeks our VCAL students have put their literacy skills into action at our local primary schools. As part of the applied learning in literacy for VCAL, students are required to design, write and illustrate a children’s book. These stories are based around the Sustainability Goals which students have studied throughout this year. Our VCAL students also designed an activity to accompany their story.
Students then travel to St Agatha’s and St Theresa’s to read aloud to our primary school partners. The feedback provides valuable learning for our senior students and is a classic example of how VCAL students build literacy skills through real world, hand on situations. From all accounts the stories were a great hit, with the primary students reluctant for our students to leave!!
