NATIONAL RIDE 2 SCHOOL DAY
On Friday 13th March, we celebrated National Ride2school day with an ‘active travel rate’ of 97% from our students. Being active on the way to school alerts our brains, strengthens our muscles and bones and makes us feel happy. Students were encouraged to dress up their bikes to have fun on their way to school whether that be on a skateboard, scooter, bike or roller skates. Students that participated received a sticker from the bicycle network and those with exemplary efforts to dress up their ride received a raffle ticket to be in with the chance to win some bicycle themed prizes. The event was coordinated by a team of House Captains who wanted to embrace this healthy initiative – Evie G, Camille W and Annabel Q. A massive well done to these students for communicating the message and ensuring the morning ran smoothly.
In addition to the bike dress up, we had visitors from the YMCA who ran some special skateboarding clinics for our Year 3/4's and then had an open lunchtime for all year levels - what a great way to spend lunch time. With the amount of fun taking place, I’d watch this space for some more skateboarding opportunities. Also, in the Snack Shack Lee arranged a ‘wheelie’ pretzel special which we are grateful for.
Keep up the activity on your way to school!
HEAPS OF WAYS TO BE ACTIVE AT HOME
With the current health situation we are facing, it’s essential that we can keep as fit and healthy as possible. If you’re stuck for ideas on activities that you can engage in at home with limited space and equipment, please check out these resources that I have pulled together: Physical activity at home
DIVISION SWIMMING
Well done to our representatives: Cohen S, Wynn A, Henry K and Noah R who represented us in the Balaclava District Team in the 4 X 50m relay – years 12/13 boys and Cohen in the 50m butterfly – 12/13 boys. You showed dedication by completing additional swim training along with a competitive mindset on race day!
