NSW PSSA ATHLETICS TRIALS

Today Isabella Wall is competing in Sydney at the NSW PSSA athletics trials for the National Athletics later on in the year. Isabella came 3rd in the 1500 metres and will now progress to Nationals.

NATIONAL BASKETBALL

Good luck to Charlie Whale who travels to Bendigo to compete with the NSW team at the National Basketball Championships.   A wonderful achievement!

CPS RUGBY KNOCKOUT

Congratulations to the team that competed in the Catholic Primary Schools Knockout at St Joseph's on Monday. The team had some tough competition but ended on a win coming 7th overall. It was so nice to see some green on a sporting field.

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

The St Nicholas Primary School Athletics Carnival will be held on Thursday 15th August, 2019. As in previous years our carnival will be held at the Tamworth Regional Athletic Centre (TRAC).

  • Could all students and helpers be at the TRAC by 8.30am so we can commence our carnival by 9.00am.
  • Infant students (Kinder and Year 1) will begin their carnival at 12.00 noon. Infant students will arrive at school as normal by 8.45am, then catch a bus to the TRAC after recess. Their carnival will conclude at the same time as the Primary carnival.
  • Students in the Primary carnival will need to make their own way to and from the TRAC.
  • Year 2 students who are turning 7 years old this year can attend the Primary carnival and participate in events. They will NOT be eligible for selection in the Diocesan team.
  • The Carnival for those in Years 2,3,4,5 and 6 will conclude at 2.30pm.  Once again, we ask that parents be prompt in collecting their children and if you have a friend or relative collecting your child then please ensure that you have a permission note that is to be given to your child’s house supervising teacher.
  • All houses will be set up on the edge of the oval. Please ensure that you cross the track at the designated areas.
  • The Infant carnival will take place on the far side of the track (closest to the AELEC).  We ask that parents walk around the edge of the oval to get to this point so there is no interference with other events.  The 70m races for the Infants students will still take place on the running track as usual.  Teachers will bring the children to the marshalling area at this time.
  • This year the only lunch available at the canteen on the day will be a sausage sizzle.  The sausage sizzle will be found next to the TRAC, not at the canteen as in previous years. Other foods and drinks will be available.  Children must also ask permission if they wish to go to the toilet.
  • Please check the St Nicholas School Sport Facebook page or school website if there is any sign of rain on the day.  These will notify of any cancellation.

Please return nomination notes to Mrs Tyrrell as soon as possible. Notes for Kinder and Year 1 will be sent home tomorrow 2nd August 2019.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Those parents who have very kindly volunteered to coach a team are to be listened to and all instructions to be followed by players both at training and when competing. Should you have an issue with your child's coach please speak to them privately without your children being present. Show respect for your coaches and their decisions.

Parents should not interfere or enter the playing field during a game as the on field officials should be left to adjudicate. If parents have concerns they should approach the coach at a break and not the children.

Should a player, coach or parent not respect this code of conduct while representing St Nicholas it may prevent their inclusion in teams in the future as this is not the image that we wish to portray in the wider community.
