Student learning around KPS
Foundation Learning
The Foundation students' word of the week is 'ant' so we have been focusing on the /a/ /n/ and /t/ sounds. The students loved discovering things about ants and incorporating it into their writing, reading, and exploring!
We went scavenging for ants. We learned that they are super strong, and then wrote about them.
Grade 2
The Grade 2s have been learning all about measuring the area of a flat surface.
They have been busy using a variety of materials to measure items around the classroom, even the Author's Chair!

After our first Interschool Sports Gala Day, we wrote ‘One Line Gratitudes’ to reflect. It was great to see our school values, kindness, resilience, and respect, shining through on the day.
Scarlett A | I am really happy on how interschool sport day turned out even though we didn’t win and we were really happy with the results. |
Ryan P | My opponents, especially Heathmont East, participated and tried really well, so my Softcrosse team had a great time. |
Olivia Z | In tennis, someone saw that I was tired because I was filling in for one of the tennis players because there weren’t enough and I had to verse both of the players so they made sure I was not too hard on myself. |
Rebekah W | My tennis team was playing their best and I'm just glad they tried. |
Phuri J | Thank you for organising the whole interschool sports. My opponent was really nice. |

The Grade 5s have created an Ema in Japanese. In Japan, Emas are purchased at a shrine and you can write a wish on them.
The Grade 5s did a great job of creating an origami usagi (rabbit) and wrote their wish for 2023 on the back.
