Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung People of the Kulin nation; past, present and those who will walk with us into the future.
We acknowledge the rich and unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas, educational practices and the hopes of all First Nations Peoples. We do this in the spirit of reconciliation as we move to a place of justice and partnership - together we work, learn, play and care for one another and this land.
It was so great to see so many families at school yesterday for our Open Classrooms and Welcome Barbecue. Our teachers work tirelessly to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences for all of our students, and it was wonderful to see so many parents taking an active interest in their children's education.
John Hattie, a highly respected researcher in education, has demonstrated through analysis of countless studies that there is concrete evidence of the positive effects of parent involvement on student achievement.
His studies show that parent involvement improves both students' academic and well-being outcomes. This involvement can be attending school events like yesterday, chatting to your child about their learning, volunteering in the classroom/on excursions, etc.
A huge thank you to the Parents and Friends and volunteers for cooking sausages for everyone and to TheirCare for supporting our school by providing the sausages.
We will continue to have opportunities for parent engagement at the school and I really loved seeing the willingness of families to engage with their children's learning.
It was also wonderful to celebrate the Grand Opening of the re-developed library yesterday afternoon. A lot of hard work has gone into creating a great learning space for all of our students. A huge thank you to all involved in this work, in particular our Project Manager, Vicki Beard, and our librarian, Martina Medica.
The next major facilities project that we have begun planning for is a re-development of our school toilets. As with previous projects, we will ensure that staff, parents, and of course, students will have an opportunity to have input into the planning and design phases of this project.
From the beginning of Term 2, we are able to accept enrolments for 2024 Foundation students.
School Tours are open now. Tours can be booked via this link
