Physical Education

News from Physical Education

Welcome back to Karoo for 2023! Throughout the early stages of Term One, the Karoo students were learning how to be healthy, safe and active during Physical Education. They were also introduced to the 'zones of regulation,' with a particular focus on how these can be applied and utilised within a Physical Education setting. The students have developed a toolbox of strategies that can be used to assist them with managing their emotions in each zone of regulation.

We have now shifted our focus towards locomotor skills/athletics. The students have been learning how to consolidate the skills of running, jumping and throwing. This has involved leaping over hurdles, weaving around slalom poles and throwing for both accuracy and distance. I continue to encourage all students to bring their best running shoes, apply sunscreen before arriving at school and be ready to maintain a physically active lifestyle. There is certainly some warmer weather that remains on the horizon.

P.S. Check out the amazing facilities that we have at Karoo for P.E. this year!
