'Creating Futures Together'

Did you know that WHSC has a dedicated Careers Website?

www.whsccareers.com

Our careers website is an amazing reference point that can assist students with their career planning research!  The website can assist with learning more about various careers, senior school & post school options, tertiary courses available in Australia and much more!

There are six main tabs on the home page and each tab has a list of links that lead to further career related information.  Below is a snap shot of the kind of information that can be found under each tab -

  1. Important Information TAB

Calendar of Events – the calendar provides students with many planned career events such as tertiary information nights, open day information, Defence Force information sessions.  By hovering over a particular event further details populate so that you can either register for the event or take note of details.  Each career event is colour coded to reflect the type of event.  For example, green relates to university events whilst pink relates to TAFE/VET events etc.

  1. Senior School TAB

This tab provides a lot of information around senior school studies- VCE, VCEVM, VET including year 10-12 guides that assist students with their career planning.  Students can also access VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre) via this tab to research tertiary courses and their entry requirements.

  1. Post School Options TAB

This tab is a great resource for obtaining information on things such as university admission centres, scholarships, open days etc, TAFE, studying interstate, apprenticeships/traineeships, information about finishing school, taking a GAP year etc

  1. Workplace Learning TAB

The Workplace Learning tab is the go to for information about Work Experience (WE), Structured Workplace Learning placements (SWL), School Based Apprenticeships in addition to having access to the required WE & SWL paperwork that is required prior to students undertaking a placement.

  1. For Parents TAB

This tab provides parents with useful links, guidance on how they can provide additional ‘career coaching’ including having effective career conversations with their teenager, understanding VET (Vocational Education & Training) study options.

  1. For Students TAB

Under this tab students have access to career videos, career targets, study skills & exam tips. Students are encouraged to regularly visit this website so that they can commence planning for their future.  If any student requires further assistance with their research then they are more than welcome to visit me in the Careers Office located in A Block.        Happy Career Researching😊
